It's been a while, But I've been busy!

Hello, it's been a long time since I have updated here.
I should be ashamed, but I have been busy in the studio.
It's a great excuse! I do tend to be neglectful of this space.
If you need a fix, you can also find me on Facebook and Flickr.

In June I was honored to be featured on the front page
of our local paper. The full story is at the link below the
image here, the same image was used in the article.
I was very pleased with the article and the exposure it
brought me.

ARTICLE

My most recent work is wall piece of a spot in my
front garden bed. An old and much loved water pump
there among the flowers and shrubs. I have completed
this same image on canvas with acrylic paints.
Now I am about half way through with the mosaic of
the same image. It is quite interesting to see the difference
in technique and results for each medium. I have been
having fun with all of it.

Prior to these fun projects I completed a few gifts
and a butterfly that is dear to my heart. A lost friend
prompted me to recreate an image from her photography
collection. My child's birthday, a thank you and an
anniversary were inspiration for the others.
Those projects are below...

Thanks for checking in here to see what I have been up to!

A Year of work

Find me on

2008 was a great year!

It's been an an incredible year of mosaic education.
My pieces are selling. I am pleased to say.

My goal for 2008 was to get my website updated, an ETSY store
going and to take the time away from family duties to do my art.

I have accomplished each goal, not by the end of 2008
exactly but now today, all those issues have been taken care of.
Two months late, but done all the same.

The taking time away one, being the hardest for me.
Because with a family of five in a 2000 square foot home,
there is always something that needs done.
Making my work hours a priority in my families eyes
has been an education for them as well.
They are old enough to take over home care, each being over
18 now...they can also take over meal prep a night a week each.
Though honestly they aren't home that much in the evenings anyway.
So the nest empties at the same time I need it to. Making all things easier.

Time to create is a good thing.
My goal for the first half of 2009 is to get a print
portfolio in order and other advertising as well.
To submit more work to galleries and shows,
both locally and elsewhere.

Kudo's

Next Project sketch....

Commission in Progress:

Kudo's to: Maryland Mosaic's and Murano Millefiori!

Larger Pictures in Flickr
Kathy at Maryland Mosaics is amazingly fast with shipping.
You barely place an order and get an email saying it has
been shipped. Not to mention a huge supply of anything
you may need. And her usual gift packet in each order.
All carefully wrapped in tissue paper and tied with
lovely ribbon every time! I bought these beautiful
Cameo's this time. They have been in my wish list for
a long time. I love this store! My gift this time was
several more cameos and those small bags of glitter
3/8 inch tiles.

Murano Millefiori actually called me to let me know
that my shipping could be cheaper and faster if I
picked a different option. Ok!
Their selection of Mille is outstanding!
Shop with them both please!
